PROGRAMS AND SERVICES: 

FOOD BANK PROGRAM: Emergency food assistance: appointments and documentation are  necessary (e.g. – proof of residency, income etc.)
HOUSING INFORMATION: Assistance with completion of Chatham-Kent Social Housing applications
COMMUNITY-USE COMPUTER (CAP Site): Word processing and internet access
RESUME WRITING: Help with creating a complete and suitable resume
FAXING/PHOTOCOPYING: Minimal fee for service
INFORMATION & REFERRAL: Mediated information, referral and advocacy services for those in need and in crisis – a “live” person to listen, provide resources and referrals to address needs, and follow-up to ensure that appropriate solutions have been found
EMERGENCY CLOTHING: Basic clothing needs in time of crisis: appointments are necessary
OPERATION COVER-UP: Assist clients to obtain gently used winter coats for their families
BACKPACKS FOR KIDS: Assist in the distribution of backpacks to children who have been referred to United Way
TOYFUL CHRISTMAS: A program, in partnership with community organizations, to offer local, low-income families an opportunity to experience the joy of providing a Christmas for their children
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Tell us how you wish to volunteer your time and talents and we will help to match you with a meaningful volunteer experience
CO-OP STUDENT PLACEMENT: Provide high school students with opportunities to learn and grow and experience working in an office setting

OUTREACH OFFICE SHARED SERVICES:

The H.E.L.P. Centre offers professional and confidential meeting spaces for community agencies and organizations that may need to see clients from Tilbury and its surrounding areas.

Current agencies that use the H.E.L.P. Centre are:

  • Service Canada – 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month
  • Chatham-Kent Legal Clinic – the last Friday of every month (appointment must be made at the Chatham site 519-351-6771)
  • Chatham Family Law Service  –  1st Monday of every month 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Legal advice on issues: separation, divorce, child custody, access, child spousal support and Children Aid Society matters.Walk ins will be handled on a first-come-first-served basis.  Appointments can also be booked by calling 519-952-3518
