We have news!

United Way isn’t going anywhere, but as of February 1, 2023, the offices located at 425 McNaughton Avenue West will no longer be known as the Chatham-Kent Nonprofit Centre.

As our home for many years, CKNC began in 2018 by building on its use as a community hub with UWOCK.

From art shows and AGMs to board meetings and fundraisers, the CKNC hosted office space, rentals and events for many community groups, service organizations and nonprofits.

Though the building will no longer be available for external rentals the building will continue to be the home for UWOCK and several tenants, and we will continue to work from our offices there. In March 2023, it will also be the new home for Royal LePage Peifer Realty, who have purchased the building and will be relocating to the premises.

This change reflects the needs for our organization and the community as pandemic recovery continues to evolve. It also allows us to concentrate on the core work of the United Way in our community.

Barb Palace, UWOCK’s CEO explains, “While UWOCK won’t be able to offer the rental spaces we once did, at this point the change in use made sense. The work we do is so important to us, and this allows our small team to be able to focus on our work supporting community, and away from the building maintenance required as a landlord. Royal LePage Peifer Realty is a wonderful community partner who understands and supports the work that United Way and the other tenants will continue to do from these offices. We look forward to sharing their new home.”
