Who We Are
United Way of Chatham-Kent
United Way of Chatham-Kent is a local, independent, not-for-profit organization that works to maximize volunteer, financial, program and agency resources to respond to the increasingly complex issues and needs that exist and are emerging in Chatham-Kent. We are a community of people with a common goal of caring.
The United Way of Chatham-Kent is all about YOUR community. Whether it is:
- Citizens volunteering their skills
- Individuals and families giving dollars
- Community members coming together to make sure your dollars are making the biggest difference
- Partners, like other agencies and funders, labour, business and government to strengthen our community
United Way is making Good Things Happen by finding solutions that fit the needs of today and tomorrow. As our society changes, United Way of Chatham-Kent is taking steps to build a stronger community through innovation, partnerships, training and exciting new programs.
A volunteer board of directors governs all United Way of Chatham-Kent decision-making. The board oversees how donor money is used, shapes our strategic vision, and plans and monitors organizational performance.
Our VALUES enable us to:
- Provide non-partisan leadership in social change
- Endorse innovation, partnerships and collective action
- Respect community wisdom and encourage citizen involvement
- Encourage and promote volunteerism and volunteer leadership
- Demonstrate trust, integrity, transparency and respect
- Embrace diversity
United Way of Chatham-Kent is dedicated to building a strong, healthy, safe community for all. We are committed to increasing the community’s capacity to implement solutions by raising funds, maximizing donors’ dollars, working with corporations and organization to realize their philanthropic objectives, and by encouraging voluntarism and philanthropy in the community at large.
