“L’il Red” is winging its way to you!

Dean Muharrem announces the start of their 2014 Direct Mail Campaign. “Our 2014 Fundraising Campaign is in full swing and we’re counting on support from all of our current, past and first time contributors to achieve this year’s goal.

Many people choose to donate using the mail. For this reason we are sending our annual pledge request to previous donors. We’re sure you can appreciate how much your continued support means to the success of this year’s campaign. Please participate in 2014 by returning the convenient “L’il Red” envelope. You will be helping more than 30 agencies, programs and services to support one-in-three residents in Chatham-Kent – 24/7 – 365 days a year.”

For those who prefer to donate online, www.uwock.ca offers a private and secure donation alternative. Or you can drop into a United Way office, email info@uwock.ca or call to make your own, specific and personal donation arrangements.“All donations to the 2014 United Way Campaign will help” says Muharrem. “By now, you may also have heard about our Everyday Hero Campaign. For just one dollar a day, or a minimum gift of $365.00 annually, you will be celebrated as an Everyday Hero. Together – we can continue meaningful and lasting change in Chatham-Kent. We’d love to hear from you. After all …It’s a great day to change lives!”

Accepting Nominations for Labour Community Service Awards

Do you have a member (past or present) who deserves to be recognized for their contributions to community?
Has your local demonstrated community engagement by improving the quality of life for others and/or community?
We have many members and local unions who work tirelessly in our community making Chatham-Kent a better place to live, work, play & raise our children. We don’t do this with the expectations of being recognized nor do we do this expecting a thank you! We do this because of who we are and what we believe in!

The Running Dead bite the dust

It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely demise of this year’s RUNNING DEAD event. But take heart, a post-mortem is already under-way with plans for a MIGHTY resurrection in 2015…  please stay tuned. Our sincere thanks to those who expressed interest in participating – we greatly appreciate your support. The good news is, Zombies being Zombies, they’re sure to regroup and launch another attack… so see you next year!

In lieu of flowers, the event organizers are offering commemorative ‘nonevent’ wristbands.

YOURS FOR A SONG… for the price of a toonie, your purchase of these orange rubberized souvenir  bracelets, sporting the words “The Running Dead 2014” will help us keep the idea alive.
