It’s time for the 3rd Annual Great Pumpkin event! Drop off your carved or decorated pumpkins at the Chatham Kent Women’s Centre on Wednesday, October 24th for a chance to win a $25 gift card.
Judging will take place Fri Oct. 26th, and pumpkins will be on display and available for purchase:
– Friday Oct. 26th from 3PM – 6PM
– Saturday Oct 27th from 9AM – 5PM

Starlight Film Festival @ Galaxy Cinemas

Thanks to the generous partnership with Galaxy Cinemas, United Way of Chatham-Kent is Happy to present the 5th Annual Starlight Movie Night!
This event is open to Chatham-Kent High School students only Grade 9-12.
This overnight movie experience will feature the following movies: TBD
Adult supervisors will be present along with on-site security. The Starlight Film Festival held at Galaxy Cinemas in Chatham, Ontario will feature a restricted entry and exit. Students must present a valid Chatham-Kent high school student card upon entry with either their ticket or receipt of purchase. To exit the theatre before 7:30am, students must present a valid Ontario Driver’s License with a G2 or higher classification and have their own transportation available at Galaxy Cinemas in Chatham, Ontario. If this option is not available, the student’s parent or guardian will be phoned and required to pick up the student(s) from Galaxy Cinemas in Chatham, Ontario. Tickets do not guarantee entry. All ticket holders must present a valid Chatham-Kent High School I.D with their ticket at the door. No refund on ticket purchase if refused entry at the door.
Specialized Volunteer Management Training: Long-Term Care Homes @ The United Way “425″ Centre for Community Innovation

Attend this free workshop created specifically to address the unique challenges of recruiting, retaining and training volunteers in long-term care homes and hospice programs. This workshop will include strategies for creating and maintaining effective boundaries with vulnerable clients, and tackling negative perceptions of volunteering in long-term care and hospices for more effective volunteer recruitment and retention. FACILITATOR BIO: Kasandra James
During her time at Volunteer Toronto, Kasandra has provided volunteer management support and advice to over 650 non-profit organizations across the city. She is an expert in youth volunteerism, and has led Volunteer Toronto’s Youth Auditor Program to help organizations engage high school volunteers in more meaningful ways.
As part of Volunteer Toronto’s new specialized training project, Kasandra has conducted an in-depth assessment of the unique volunteer management needs and challenges of five non-profit sub-sectors, consulting with relevant provincial associations and communities to help inform best practices. She is using that knowledge to deliver workshops across Ontario that give volunteer managers the specialized training and resources they need to help their programs thrive.
