United Way Chatham-Kent (UWCK) Announces Another Major Sponsor

RED FEATHER WEEK is a series of events beginning Wednesday, 2012SEP19.  This is the 55th year for these Signature Events and we are proud and pleased to announce Drivewise of Chatham as a major sponsor for the young people who are organizing the week of Red Feather activities.

This is the third year Drivewise has stepped forward to support the Red Feather activities and United Way’s Youth Ambassadors. Their generous sponsorship allows the Youth Committee to organize activities and pay related costs while saving on campaign donated dollars.  Therefore, the money raised during Red Feather activities can be used to support the 22 programs, services and agencies supported through UWCK’s Community Fund.

 Event’s Include Night Football

There are two games scheduled for Red Feather.  The first game will be held at CKSS on Friday September 21st and is under the lights beginning at 7p.m.  Pre-game activities will include an amazing school spirit demonstration to help kick-off the evening.  All schools are encouraged to gather together for this pre-game activity and help show their school spirit.  It is a great way to demonstrate your support for United Way Chatham-Kent’s 2012 “Change Starts Here” campaign.

The second game will be Saturday September 22nd at CKSS and begins at 12 noon.

We’re Also Having A Dodge Ball Tournament and this year’s tournament will be held at Chatham Christian High School on Friday September 21st from 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m.  Games will include a match between United Way’s volunteer team and the team assembled by Blackburn Radio.  This action you won’t want to miss.

There are many more events and activities planned for Red Feather week.  For a full list of activities, times, locations and costs, please visit United Way Chatham-Kent’s website and click on the Red Feather icon on the right side of the page www.uwock.ca or contact Amanda Chartrand (519) 354-0430 or amanda@uwock.ca

Thomas Smith and James Lizotte, founders of Gentry Manor are focusing on fashion and philanthropy with their upcoming “Get it on … for United Way” Fashion Extravaganza planned for Friday evening, 2012 NOV 02 at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre.

“This event will, undoubtedly, be one of the highlights of our fall campaign”, said Scott Ewing, Co-Chair – with wife Stacey, of this year’s United Way fund-raising appeal.  We are looking forward to an evening filled with fabulous fashion, fine foods, outstanding entertainment, and unique auction items.  It will be a wonderful evening to spend with friends and colleagues alike!”

The event will feature four fashion segments separated by a local dance number by Erin’s Dance Club, a comedy act by James MacNeil and local singing sensations yet to be revealed!  Delicious canapés, hors d’oeuvres and selections of liquid refreshments will be served throughout the evening.

In addition to a live and silent auction – with some “sure to please” items up for bid, guests will be encouraged to walk the red carpet and have a souvenir photograph taken with their favourite male – or female – models!

“Many folks will have heard about our “teaser” male fashion show – which was held on Friday, 2012 JUN 01 as part of our first Welcome Home Chatham-Kent Event.” said Karen Kirkwood-Whyte, United Way CEO. “The feedback we received confirmed the need to undertake a ‘repeat performance’!”

Tickets for the “Get it on … for United Way” Fashion Extravaganza are $150.00 – with a $50.00 income tax receipt.  Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to act quickly to reserve their tables for ten as there will only be 350 seats available.  Tickets can be purchased at Gentry Manor – 9 Park Street in Chatham or the United Way Office at 425 McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.

Net proceeds will be used to support the 22 funded agency programs and services which serve one-in-three local citizens throughout Chatham-Kent.
